My Art at The Community Art Center in Vevay, Indiana

Let's Peek Inside

Inside the Art Center

I’ve been a member of  The Community Art Center in Vevay, Indiana for almost two years now and in my humble opinion, it is one of the best art centers I’ve ever been in.  It has a wide variety of quality art created by artisans within a 60 mile radius of Vevay.

I wrote a blog post several months ago about the art center and the great artists in it.  Click HERE to go to that post.  You will see exactly what I mean.

The art center is completely run by a board of super volunteers as well as being staffed by dedicated volunteers.  If the doors are open, a volunteer opened them.  We make extraordinary efforts to be open 7 days a week.  Many hours are devoted to its success.

I made this short video of my art currently in the art center.

I hope you enjoyed that little piece of shameless self promotion.  But really, the art center is a gathering place for many in the community.  Not only does it have fabulous art but there are also yoga classes in the large room upstairs as well as art classes for children and adults.  Click HERE to see and sign up for the children’s class I’m teaching July 20, 2022.

The town goes all out for monthly First Fridays and as the art center is in the center of town, it is always buzzing with activity.  Local organizations and individuals offer food and handmade items on the sidewalks, most businesses are open and welcoming you in.  There is usually music in several nearby venues and it is a party atmosphere throughout this small Indiana town.

I’m one of those volunteers and there always seems to be at least one or more people who come in when I’m working just to get their art fix, relax and see what’s new.  People passing through from point A to point B are stunned by this gem inside this small town.

Speaking of a small town, this is a small rural river town along the Ohio and it boasts not only the art center but also a restored theatre, an antique mall, a curiosity emporium, a quilt shop, beautiful old architecture and homes, a great campground and several great places to eat.  And if that’s not enough Bel Terra Casino is a stone’s throw away as well.

At the time I’m writing this post, the highway departments of Kentucky and Indiana are doing a bang up job of some much needed road repair, but the by-product is they are practically strangling this and other river towns along the Ohio.  To the west is Madison, Indiana, a larger version of Vevay and the road is completely shut down between the two. To the east on the Kentucky side a desperately needed road and sliding hillside repair makes it nearly impossible to cross the dam from Northern Kentucky.  However, people do it all the time and it is definitely worth the effort and extra mileage it will take to get here from several different vantage points.  There will be dancing in many streets when these repairs are completed.

We’d love to meet you at the art center as you too are amazed at the quality of art by local artisans offered at the Community Art Center in Vevay, IN.

See you soon,

Sharon
