I Bought New Acrylic Painting Supplies…

Was It Worth It for Beginners?

New Art Supplies - Are They Worth It

Art Supply Haul

It’s always exciting receiving new art supplies.  I can’t wait to try them out.  I can’t wait to see what they’ll do.  How does this medium work?  What kind of strokes can I make with this brush?  How does this paint mix with the colors I already have?

When I went to Acrylic Live two weeks ago I learned about different supplies than I normally use so of course I had to order some of them.  They got here late last week and believe it or not I didn’t open them until I could make a video to share with you.

I bought new art supplies and then I have to figure out if they were worth it or not.  You’ll be seeing some videos in the future of how I use these new supplies and what I like and don’t like about them.

I have tried several things out and I don’t have enough experience with them to make a determination yet.  But I’ll make sure you know all about when I do.

I buy most of my art supplies from Dick Blick Art, an online art supplier although they do have brick and mortar stores in the northwest.  Jerry’s Artarama is another online art supplier.  I also purchased a paint set from Natural Akrylic Paints as well as Trekell brushes.

I’ll be making color charts using the new Akrylic paints, (that’s how they spell acrylic).  I’ll be playing a lot with my new brushes.  And I’ve been playing a lot with the new mediums I purchased.

When you purchase new art supplies it’s best to actually experiment with what you purchased.  That includes the paints and the brushes as well as the supports.  Make physical as well as mental notes on your new products so you can refer to it often.

Then use your new products as much as possible in your art.  One great thing about getting new art supplies is it often encourages us to get back into the studio and actually paint.  Sometimes we get lax in painting and creating art and playing in the paint.  New art supplies sometimes is enough to get us back to creating.

If you haven’t read last weeks post about attending Acrylic Live, click HERE to read the post and watch the video.    I hope that you are also looking around to learn from different artists and different techniques.

Click HERE if you’re interested in learning to paint this year.  It lays out a path for you to move your art journey forward.

Keep learning, keep painting.

Thanks for being here today.  I would really appreciate it if you could share this with anyone you think might be interested in it and if your haven’t subscribed to my YouTube channel, it would really help me out if you would.

Thanks a bunch,

Sharon
