Confidently Choose a Palette
Staring at a blank canvas can be very unnerving, Where do I start? What should I paint? What colors should I use?
We’re going to talk about the colors we should or could choose for our art, decorating our homes or choosing branding colors.
Fire up that computer or TV and pull up YouTube. Click this big beautiful button.
Now that you’ve seen the video let’s talk about color. You’ll need a color wheel at some point for this. Click HERE for a link to several different sizes and prices of color wheels.
The color wheel is extremely useful and is set up systematically so you can easily choose colors that play well together. In the video you learn that colors opposite each other are complements. When trying to select colors that work together you first decide on your main color, then pick the complement or the opposite. Next you pick colors equal distance from either side of the main or complement color. The four colors you now have are called a triad color scheme and they will be pleasing to the eye.
The main color is the star of the show you’re creating, and the 3 other colors are the supporting actors. You can definitely use some other colors, but they are extras in your production and should be thought of as such.
This can be very helpful in decorating a room that is pleasing to the eye. It also can be very helpful if you’re a business person who is trying to pick colors for a brand.
