Art isn’t the result – it’s the journey according to Seth Godin in his book The Icarus Deception.
Think about that for a minute. Art isn’t the result, meaning art isn’t the painting, it’s the journey to be able to create the painting. The journey, or learning your craft is the real art. I love that thought. It takes a lot of the pressure off of learning to paint and the end result.
Recently my art journeyed to the Community Art Center in Vevay, Indiana and I created this video showing you what it takes to go on that journey.
Part of the journey of creating your art is putting your art out into the world. This video shows one way that is done.
I know in the early going it’s tough to put your art out there.
- What will people think
- What if no one likes it
- Am I any good
- Who am I to think I can paint
And yet, you continue to learn and create. Why? To keep it to yourself? If art isn’t the result, what are you afraid of? Art should inspire and motivate others to think and dream. If you keep it all to yourself you can’t possibly do that. Click HERE to see how fear almost stopped me.
In this weeks video I explain at the end how to get your art into a local community art center. Click HERE if you missed it. If you’re not ready for that, I get it so here are a few steps to help you get ready.
- Visit your local community art center
- Join one as a patron if not an exhibitor
- Study your craft
- Take a class
- Study the work of other artists
- Post your work online
- Show your work to family and friends
- Paint more often
I have a FREE printable Beginning Artist Bundle that is packed full of information beginning artists need to understand, including a plan to help you paint more often and get more out of it. Click the button below to get the bundle.
Art isn’t the result. It isn’t the painting, the pottery, the jewelry. It’s the journey of learning to create the art. In a way, you are the art as you learn and grow and improve your knowledge, skills and abilities.
Thanks for stopping by today.
Let’s paint together real soon!
