Don’t Let Art Blocks Overtake You!
Have you ever felt frustrated about your art? Maybe you feel like you’re not progressing, you’re not improving. You’re not creating the art you want to. You know it’s in there but you just can’t seem to get it out in a way you’re satisfied with.
I’ve done a video on artist block or frustration and 7 tips to end it. I’ve known artists whose work I absolutely love get stuck for months at a time. They paint nothing for months and then suddenly, as quickly as it came, the block leaves and they are able to paint again.
Tip #1 is actually recognizing that you’re blocked and that it’s OK. You’re allowed to be frustrated because being creative can be very frustrating. But – you can’t allow yourself to stay there for very long, I truly believe there are things you can do to remove the block and frustration. The other 6 tips are in the video. Click that big beautiful button to watch.
All artists experience artist block. It feels like your creative juices are blocked and everything you paint is trash. When you pick up the brush to paint, it feels foreign to your hand. As if you have no clue what to do with it. You have no motivation or inspiration to paint.
While artist block affects all artists at some time, I don’t believe we have to allow it to hang around too long. All artists get frustrated and/or blocked so just know it’s OK. There’s nothing wrong with you and yes you can get back to being your creative self.
In the video I share 7 tips for ending or removing frustration and blocks, I’m sure it’s not an exhaustive list. Maybe you have your own way to get your creative juices flowing again, We’d love to hear them. Share them in the comment section of the video so we can all benefit.
I believe if we can admit the frustration, walk away from it for a while and do what has worked in the past our blockage won’t hang around too long. I think it’s really important to not get overly stressed that we are blocked. Don’t let it eat at you. “Yep, right now I’m blocked, but I’m going to walk away for now and come back tomorrow and get after it again,” is a mindset that can help with blockages.
If you want to make more and better art, you need to plan to do it. I’ve created a FREE printable worksheet to help you clarify what you want to paint, what you need to learn and when you’re going to do it. This worksheet can also go a long way to help you get beyond the block and frustration. Click HERE to receive the plan in your inbox.
I hope this helps you realize that artist block is real but you don’t have to stay blocked and frustrated. You can move beyond it and let those creative juices flow once again.
Bye for now,
Sharon
