Art As Therapy
I’m not talking about the Vincent Van Gogh kind where I’m in danger of cutting off my ear, but we’ve all got problems, things that bother us and sometimes, well, yes, make us a little crazy.
I have found that when I’m painting, preparing to paint or even thinking of painting, (which is pretty much allll the time), I’m not thinking about bills, kids, grandkids, car problems, what shall I fix for dinner, etc. I’m thinking about the painting. Where does the next stroke go? How can I make that read better? What am I missing?
This weeks video is all about art as therapy and how we can let go of all those things that really bother us, if only for a little while. Give your mind a break. Go paint a sunset.

Here’s a video I did on not letting fear stop you from learning to paint. It can be the biggest kill joy out there. Fear can completely immobilize us and we need to figure out the how and why of getting around it. I’m currently working on my fear, (really it’s terror) of dogs. So there ya have it. You now know I’m sorta kinda crazy cause I need a lot of painting therapy. I’m afraid of dogs. I have problems I need to escape occasionally. I’ll bet you also have your own kinda crazy too that painting more could help.
Now, let’s get out those brushes and paint together real soon.
